Creating a more eco friendly kitchen...

At Blackbrook Kitchens, we champion kitchen designs that tick as many environmentally friendly and sustainable boxes as possible.

Whilst creating super stylish kitchen spaces is our core skill, we like to use suppliers with good ethical and eco-friendly credentials whenever we can.

If you’re considering a brand new kitchen but you’d like to incorporate sustainable materials, clever eco-friendly solutions or energy saving appliances - talk to us. We can come up with all sorts of design features and additions for your new kitchen that will leave you assured that you’re doing your bit for the environment and making living sustainably that little bit easier.

USING Recycled or upcycled materials.

If you’ve still got life in your own kitchen (for example strong carcasses or great quality doors) we’ll always encourage upcycling them with new doors or new paint, if that’s what you’d prefer. We love using reclaimed or vintage elements in our designs too so if you’d prefer we sourced a quirky old table, or that we use upcycled scaffold boards in your kitchen design - we’d be more than happy to.

Kitchen suppliers with excellent credentials.

The kitchen industry is become increasingly forward thinking when it comes to ensuring their sustainability credentials are significant as well as transparent. Suppliers like Ashley Ann for example use only FSC or PEFC certified board and timber and their waste management and recycling programmes are excellent.

Choosing a kitchen that will lasT.

Although budget kitchens can be attractive because of the price, if you’re looking to be more sustainable, choosing a better quality kitchen that won’t need to be replaced or thrown away for a very long time is the best way forward.

Use flooring that’s more eco friendly.

As well as sustainably sourced timber flooring, there are all sorts of unusual materials that make brilliant kitchen floors. Bamboo and cork for example are both renewable - and can look brilliant.

Appliances with the best energy ratings.

Working out which appliances combine the most efficient energy use whilst working most effectively can be a bit of a challenge. At Blackbrook Kitchens we can recommend the best cookers, dishwashers, hobs, fridges and more so you can rest assured that you’re keeping you carbon footprint in check.

Energy saving taps.

Boiler hot water taps can be much better for energy efficiency than classic kettles because you’re only ever heating as much water as you need to. We love the Quooker range because they’re stylishly designed, easy to use, safe and eco-conscious.

Adding recycling systems that work.

If you’re forever falling over stacks of paper for recycling or don’t seem to have enough room for all the different kinds of rubbish - we can help! We can incorporate a complete waste recycling system into your new kitchen design, including space for all the different kinds, from glass collection to composting.

Energy efficient lighting.

Using less energy and benefitting both your bank balance and the environment is a no-brainer. We can makes sure your new kitchen’s lighting concept is as earth friendly and as effective as possible, all day long.

Choose eco-friendly paints.

We always opt for low VOC, non toxic paints which are kinder to the environment, like Painthouse paints which have a brilliant range of colours.
